In August, the Pan-London Cancer Alliances Research Consortium announced a new round of 12-month cancer research fellowships for 2024/25.

The areas of focus for this year’s Cancer Research Fellowship Programme have been aligned to meet the ambitions of the NHS Long Term Plan and are:

  • Early diagnosis
  • Cancer inequalities
  • Personalised care of people living with and beyond cancer.

The South East London Cancer Alliance, in partnership with King Health Partners’ Comprehensive Cancer Centre, have been leading the recruitment for a research fellow to be based in south east London.

Who can apply?

The fellowships are open to medical and non-medical professionals who do not currently hold a PhD or MD. Non-medical professionals will include nurses, allied health professionals, health scientists and Clinical Research Practitioners.

Fellowship funding includes salary costs for 12 months, to support in gathering preliminary data and develop applications for continuation of funding to external funding bodies. Part time fellowships over a longer period will also be considered at the discretion of the supervisor.

Recruitment process enters its final stage

Following an initial call to potential supervisors, which closed on 6th October 2024, the South East London Cancer Alliance has shortlisted eight research projects that potential fellows can now apply for. The list of research projects and details on how to apply, can be found below.

Please note the South East London Cancer Alliance will be funding one research fellow for 2024/25. The closing date for applications is Sunday 8th Dec 2024.
